My Simple Nighttime Routine for Better Sleep
Share
Getting quality sleep can feel tricky in today’s busy world, but small nightly habits can make a big difference. I’ve found that keeping my routine simple and consistent helps me fall asleep easier and wake up feeling refreshed.
⚠️ Note: I’m not a doctor or sleep specialist. This post is just me sharing my personal routine and some food- and lifestyle-based tips I’ve come across in my research. Everyone is different, so always check with a professional if you have ongoing sleep concerns.
What I Do Before Bed
Here’s my personal nighttime routine that helps me wind down:
-
Tart Cherry Juice – I like sipping a small glass before I hop in the shower. Tart cherries are a natural source of melatonin, which is sometimes called the “sleep hormone.”
-
Magnesium – I personally take a magnesium glycinate supplement because I find it helps me relax. (Foods like almonds, spinach, and pumpkin seeds are also natural sources of magnesium.) This one mixes right into my cherry juice.
-
Warm shower -Â A warm shower helps me relax, and signal to my body that bedtimes around the corner. Â Using a scalp massager after or in the shower is another way I like to get ready for bed. It feels AMAZING.
-
Reading – Instead of scrolling on my phone, I try :) reading a few pages of a book to quiet my mind. Â
Other Lifestyle Tips That Can Support Sleep
Beyond my routine, here are a few other food-based and lifestyle habits often linked with better sleep quality:
-
Herbal teas – Chamomile, lemon balm, or passionflower teas are traditionally enjoyed in the evening for relaxation.
-
Limit caffeine late in the day – I stick to coffee or matcha only in the morning.
-
Set the mood – Dimming the lights, lowering the thermostat, and even using calming essential oils can make your bedroom more sleep-friendly.
-
Consistent schedule – Going to bed and waking up at the same time every day helps regulate your body’s natural rhythm.
So Basically...🌙
Sleep doesn’t have to be complicated. A few small, intentional habits—like sipping tart cherry juice, enjoying a warm shower, and creating a calming environment—can set the stage for deeper rest. The key is finding what works best for you, and making it a consistent part of your nightly routine.
